About Chateau Tauzinat L'Hermitage 2014 St. Emilion, Grand Cru

In the first editions of Bordeaux and its Wines by Edward Feret, we learn that before 1789 the Cru of Tauzinat belonged to the Carles family, an armed forces general under King Louis XVI. Surrounded by the most prestigious growths of the area, its vineyard produces a very well regarded wine, awarded a silver medal by the international jury for the 1889 world fair. It was 1953 when Antoine Moueix acquired this estate ordained with a rich past and recognized terroir for several centuries. Now under the the Domaine Bernard Moueix it carries the prestige of the Moueix name. Located on the plateau of Saint-Emilion, the Chateau Tauzinat l'Hermitage has one of the best terroirs of the Bordeaux right bank. With 22 acres of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc on a clay and limestone soil, this vineyard creates a seductive wine with a beautiful aromatic complexity. The wine is produced with the know-how and experience that only the Mouiex family can bring and the most modern winemaking facilities. This 2014 is prime example a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc aged in French oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored this 90-92 points saying "The Chateau Tauzinat l'Hermitage 2014 has a well-defined, blackberry and red cherry-scented bouquet with a light and pleasant leafiness coming through with aeration. This is certainly more reserved and classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, bright blackberry and raspberry fruit, assiduously embroidered oak and a harmonious, elegant finish. This is a well-crafted Saint Emilion."
