    About Giacosa Fratelli 2014 Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC

    The Giacosa Fratelli winery is located in Neive, in the heart of Piedmonts Langhe region, just a few miles from Alba. The winery has a very long family history and tradition: founded by Giuseppe Giacosa in 1895 in Borgonuovo, the winery was later expanded and moved to its current location in nearby Neive and run by brothers Valerio and Renzo (the actual fratelli in the winery name). THey own some prime vineyard land in the region which allows them to source superb quality fruit for this everyday wine. Made with 100% organically-grown Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from selected vineyards in the Roero area (the Northern bank of the Tanaro river). Grapes are harvested by hand. Vinification in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. Aged for 10 months in large barrels plus a minimum of 12 months in bottle prior to release, to allow for flavors and complexity to properly blend and mature. This wine shows light to medium color typical of Nebbiolo, loaded with notes of violets, roses and spices; lively and fruity on the palate with balanced acidity. All the charm of Nebbiolo without the Barolo tannins!
